Tammie Sarkozy – WBFF Pro – Online Coach

Why did you choose the fitness industry? (or did it choose you?)

It defs chose me! I was addicted to a fitness class my friend was running for his Martial Arts students.
He needed me to cover a class or 2 and I LOVED it! It became a regular part or my weekly schedule.
Within a year I was running my own Bootcamp and PT in my shed. That was 14 yrs ago….my passion is still here!
I have a career that allows me to upgrade people’s lives…it is insanely rewarding and I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything else.

Have you ever struggled with inclusion and belonging in your career?

I’ve received nothing but support and friendship. I’ve always been surrounded by very driven and wholesome people, it’s something I value most about this industry

What challenges have you had to overcome to pursue your dream career?

Moving with the times! There was a huge transition in marketing with social media being at the forefront.
I used to use social media for my personal life (for the most part as a competitive Crossfit Athlete) yet my job specialised in women’s bodybuilding so….there was a period of time people saw me as an athlete, not a coach. It was alot of work to turn my profile around to show people what I offer as a service.

How do you manage your Work/Life balance?

I have some hard rules in place:
– No checking emails after 630pm
– No working on weekends (unless planned)
– Set clearly boundaries with clients
– Take public holidays and days off for special events
– Celebrate business benchmarks with something you’d NEVER usually spend money on eg: hello Louis Vuitton – these rewards remind me why I work so damn hard. It works!
It’s taken me a LONG time to master these but it 1000% pays off.

Who’s been your biggest Mentor to date?

My friend Kyl….he ran the functional fitness classes where this all started. He is the owner of Chikara Martial Arts (where he also taught me Muay Thai). He pushed me, helped me find my confidence and made me realise I could achieve anything I worked hard for.
Not just this, but he is the hardest worker in the room….hands down. Martial Arts is a never-ending ladder to climb that involves a lifetime of commitment ..and he is always climbing …so much respect.
